    • Hey Eric,
I know its important to retract shoulder blades on pressing movements in order to maintain proper posture and keep the sternum high and rib cage expanded thereby increasing range of motion. Should one also keep shoulder blades retracted on pulling movement like bb rows and pullups? Why or why not? I've done some research some people say that you should keep them retracted to help prevent shoulder injury others who say keep shoulders neither back nor forward (neutral or the natural position) to ensure maximum stretch of the lats. Thanks for the help.

Yo, guys..... this is top notch stuff right here. I wasn't kidding when I said the effects were immediately felt. Follow everything as close as possible and I'm sure you will agree.

        I'm glued to this thread.

For me it depends on the rep range I am trying to work in. If my goal is 4-6 reps then I choose my weight according to that. For example: If on my first set I use 200 lbs and get only 4 reps, then I will drop to 190-195 for my second set. However, if on my first set I use 200 lbs and get 6 reps, then I may go heavier on the second. Sometimes it may work out that I use the same weight for all 3 sets, which is fine as long as I stay within the rep range I am shooting for.

For pulling movements I certainly allow my shoulders to come forward somewhat in order to allow for a full stretch of my lats. I then begin to retract my shoulder blades, as well as arch my lower back and stick my chest out as I pull to contraction. To me, this is the only way to work the back through its entire range of motion.

I have not been back to this thread in quite a while but b/c of your post I returned and found unanswered questions. I apologize for this, but never received an email update that there were replies in this thread.

                  • Just saying "I can" or "I will" alone is not enough. You must firmly BELIEVE those words, because without BELIEF, those statements, while positive, carry no true POWER. A car has the POTENTIAL to run, but only if gasoline is introduced into the tank. BELIEF is our gasoline!
