That would truly be an honor. Good reason for me to head out to sunny Florida. I could take the wife and kids to Disney World while we're there. See, that's just smart thinking.
I have to say that I have honestly enjoyed being pushed by the varying methods that P/RR/S does. It certainly puts you in your place. I had the preconvieved notion that shock week was going to be a breeze. Quite the contrary. I am sore like I have never been before. Tells you guys and gals that those types of muscle fibers don't all get trained to their fullest capacity. I'm not going to blow smoke and tell people 'I gained this in 10 days' garb, but I do believe that we devoted gym rats tend to get in a groove or should I say rut of training. What's nice about Eric's style is that you know exactly what style you're going to be changing to. No guess work. Vary a few exercises and bring on the pain. You'll only get out of it what you put in, and for me so far it's been buckets of sweat.
I'm almost scared. I have legs tonight.Assistant to the regional manager.

Legs...I just got a email from my wife saying she's scared. HEHE
What really sucks is the 8:30am spin class we do on Saturdays. It's like an hour of intervals, but after that, it's lounging by the pool.Assistant to the regional manager.

Roast legs by Chef Eric Broser
Take 2 unsuspecting but willing subjects
Ad Shock routine for legs
Stir throughly
Cook at maximum temperature until legs are rendered useless and enjoy.
Easy right?
Let me tell you all about it.
Knowing the havoc that the previous Shock routines played on my various muscle groups. I was truthfully nervous about my future well being during and after this workout.
6:05PM Sarah, our children, and I enter our gym. Kids looking forward to some good fun in their kids club, and Sarah and I looking for any reprieve we can find.
On the docket today is my last Shock routine for this week, and I am really looking forward to switching to Power. Only because Shock is just so damn hard.
So the workout is going to go like this.
Lying hamstring curls super set with squats
Hack squats (lunges for Sarah) super set with leg extension
And a drop set of leg press
Calves will be 2 super sets of standing calf raise and seated calf raise. Followed by a drop set of donkey calf raises
It takes several warm up sets to loosen up my hips. For some reason today they are very tight. That's o.k. light squats do the trick for that.
I start off with a decent weight for hamstring curls. Taking every exercise as it's own entity. Not being concerned with what's to come next. I easily get out my 10 and head off to the squat rack. I must say that our gym is set up perfectly for Shock. The weight room is not massive. So everything is in a nice proximity for this style. Believe it or not, I'm using the same weight on squats as I did for Rep Range week. Smart idea eh? I get 10 deep there and Sarah gets hers as well. Right back over to hamstring curls, and I already have some good blood flowing. The next set of hamstring curls I add more weight (very ambishis) and get to 8, then things start to get hard. The next 2 reps are tough to get full contraction on. I get an 'oh man' out of Sarah. Good! Back over to squats and I add 10lb. Let's do this thing! The first 5 are smooth yet I'm pushing very hard. 6 comes and and a freakin truck decides to hop on board. I take 6 down and WOW, Now I'm power lifting. Every rep after that is a full breath at top, take it down with extreme intent, and fire it up with all I've got...which takes seemingly seconds each time. Now I should have said this earlier, but only a day earlier I performed Shock chest an shoulders (story to come at a later date). So stepping under the squat bar and reeeeaching up and back was a serious chore. Cause I was sore. Nice rhyme huh?
Now for me hack squats are the widow maker of all leg exercises. I can't ever do much weight and they just fry my quads. Seems like a perfect time to do them. With only 50lb less than I do on a 'power' day. I set out to get 10 deep reps. Once again, I'm not one of those sissys that claim to be able to pound out 700lb but really only have a 6 inch range of motion. For me (it's a personal decision) to bury the weight to the stops is the only reasonable thing to do. After all that's why the tracks go down that far.
So mount up and get 5. Now the fire is blazing. I take a look down to see if my legs aren't actually ignited and the sweat comes pouring off my head. Deep breath and down. 6-10 is like stoking that fire with each second more I spend under that apparatus. When 10 comes I scramble for the locks to get this abomination off my back. Now standing up from this position is simply joyous. My legs are refusing to work. It is about all I can do to keep from smashing my face on the foot pad when stepping out. Immediately to my knees I go. Now I didn't want to go there. It just happened. Man! Now I have to get up. I'm not kidding that I have to roll on my hands and knees and pull on the hack to get up. Now I'm walking over to the leg extension like I'm wearing pants that are just way to tight. Dragging toes the whole deal. Best thing about leg extension is that you get to sit down. Then the work comes. With each repetition I can fell the entire muscle moving and contracting. If I didn't have tears in my eyes it might have been cool to see. 10 reps. Remember that fire? Well now it has the wonderful addition of jet fuel to it. If I were outside, the heat signature coming off of them would have put the nation on code yellow alert. Just getting out of the leg extension is like an exercise in contortion. I'm kind of stuck in it. Nothing let to do but pull the pin on the range adjuster and pull it up...by hand. Now I'm holding onto every piece of equipment along the way back to the hack just to make it. This looks like a land lover on a crab fishing boat. I make a vow that I will not take any weight off the hack and get this growth thing happening. 10 is the goal, so 10 it is. With each rep I have to pause at the top to take a breath. Getting a pretty cool Elvis leg thing going. If I were dancing I'd take Vanilla Ice to school. Dance? Hell I may never walk again!
The last 3 are most definitely the hardest weight training reps I have ever done. I rack that thing with quick shooter speed. That's the only thing that's going fast now. Oh, that and my pulse that is remanent of machine gun fire. Now I'm just a little pissed even. So I add 20lb to the leg extension and get to it. With a firm 'COME ON!' I get to work. I get 8 with a fever, but 9 and 10 come very slow and I don't give up until they're locked out. Feeling like a human match stick I calmly stroll over to the leg press. Now luck for me someone hadn't unracked all their weight so I only needed to add one plate to each side. Gives me just enough time to stop wheezing. I flop into the seat and push up the weight. This part alone was a real treat. Down we go. 8,9,10. Naw I'm not stopping now. Keep going I make it a straight set of 16, and when I stop my legs blow up so hard that I'm in real pain here. We can forget about Sarah. She's lying on one the ab benches looking for relief from her onslaught.
Calves are next. If I could stand upright they would have been much easier, but I couldn't, so they weren't. After the super sets of these, even the bottoms of my feet were blown up. I had to take my shoes off right then to try and make the burning go away. It didn't help.
I must say the best part of doing a Shock leg day is being done and knowing that you don't have to do another one for 2 more weeks. If you've got the stones and crave not just a challenge, but a personal awakening, then Shock legs is for you. I know for me that I discovered something new.
Oh and I hate stairs.Assistant to the regional manager.

Another great PRRS adventure Todd! Yes, there is NOTHING like Shock leg day! I believe they used it as a form of torture back in the medievel times
I so look forward to your posts bro. I think we may have to make a book out of it..."Todd's Adventures in PRRS: A Tale of Torture."

EXERICSE 1 COMPOUND POWER
EXERCISE 2 COMPOUND - REPS
