Any tips for hitting the quad? A "friend" of mine is thinking about starting to hit quads since his delts and hip are getting scar tissue and he will be doing a little bit more than normal for his show prep!
Place your thumb on your hip and stretch your hand down your leg, make a mental not of where your fingers went. Take your same hand and measure up your side of the leg placing your fingers on the side of your knee and stretching your hand up. Make a mental note where your thumb is. That meaty space of the side of the quad in between those two measurements is where you needs to go... ofcourse if your lean and have a 27G 1/2 inch you can pin anywhere painless really
This is all theoretical of course. I would try mid way up the sweep. It seems to be easier laying down , no tension on the leg at all.25 gauge seems to work the best, it takes longer to push the oil but worth it. Go slowly alot of nerves in the area, make sure to aspirate.

spot on. I find the higher up I pin, the less pain. But pin it on leg day as well before you train or the night before to reduce any potential pain.
I did once by myself. Painful experience. If I did again, i would have someone else administer the shot.
Noooo! You gotta go slow in case you hit a nerve and need to re direct the pin. That guy will probably hurt you. But having said that... I was such a pussy when it come to pinning, I had someone do EVERY shot (was using prop as well) for my first 3 cycles, lol... But they were glute or shoulder shots. Those are way different and rarely do you strike a nerve that will hurt there like you COULD in a quad.
Quad shots are great as you can do them sitting down, relaxed and can see what you're doing... Great spot, just find out where your sweet spot is.
You can do that shit all up and down the outer sweep-- quads aren't bad at all. I'd (personally) hit it about 3/4 up your outer quad. I've tried to rotate diff sites throughout the years and quads seems to be a great way to go. The most painful thing i've ever done was a trap injection-- fuck that! Never again...
Every time I have pinned quads (twice) I had a dead leg by the end of the day. My friend hits quads only and he has issues every now and again, but prefers it vastly over delts or glutes. Delts are so far my favorite.
I put my pointer finger on the teardrop of my outer quad just about the kneecap and stretch my hand extending my thump upward toward the hip. Where my thumb touches is the bulls eye. Like Ritch says, it's relaxing as you can sit and see exactly what you are doing. Just massage the hell out of the area shortly after pinning and you should not have any issues.
