  • Jeff, I just finished reading your blog for your approach to the week 10 diet. I am appreciative and it is interesting that you even with your recent outstanding pics you are flexible to attention on the feedback from your body for your adaptable diet and for keeping how you want to appear, not necessarily for the weight factor. I am learning a lot from you. Compliments on your approach so far.

Please make a brief comment on the following. On July 11 you gave me some suggestions for increasing protein and lowering my fat stats. Ok, now these are my latest, if my math is correct, protein 63%, carbs 21%, fat 16%. My body feels good,
but are these new stats fine for a balanced diet for cutting? Just from most cutters, would this be good for the next four weeks?

Thanks and keep up your own approach.
    Jake

That is a lot of protein. Maybe you could switch some of that to carbs and fat. I think you're getting carried away with the fine details and should take a step back and focus on the big picture (keeping it more simple): Learn what works for you (you're trying, so thats good), eat enough protein (learn how much this is, for me I like about 400g or a bit more), eat enough carbs and fat, but now way too much. You don't need to find a magic % ratio. Just eat pretty clean and enough (offseason) and gradually cut caloories (mostly from carbs, fat, then protein) when dieting.

Wow, those waffles sound delicious. Waffles with peanut butter and (sugar free) syrup when I'm done! Hahaha, I'm dreaming about eating 5-10 of those for breakfast.

        • Jeff, do manipulate your carbs or sodium the last week of the show or do you just right into it with your normal diet?

              • jeff when will you do a show? and why do you compete in the npc and not the wnbf

                • Hello Jeff, I am still trying to fine tune the high protein, mod carbs and low fat. I have the idea what foods contribute, but it is very difficult to find the best proportions.

Question: Have you posted any updated workout routines since June 12 (Week 14)? Did I miss any update since Week 14?

Yes. I think I should have eaten just a little bit more the day before the show, but I think I'd rather err on the side of eating just a bit too little than too much. In the end, its not really rocket science and its really only a bit of fine tuning--it will not be the difference between looking good and great (thats from all the previous weeks of dieting), in my opinion.

I will be doing the Team Universe in September.

I started out competing in the NPC simply because my friend was doing an NPC show and suggested I do the show with him (the Contra Costa). When I first got into bodybuilding, I used to read Jeff Willet's training journal as he got ready for the Team Universe and I thought, at the time, it would be really cool if one day i could simply compete at the show (forget winning it, I just wanted to do it). So, since the first time I've done the TU, its become my goal to eventually win it; which is now what I'm trying to do (and have no problem continuing to if I dont).

Bodybuilding is simply my hobby--I do it for fun and to have a goal to strive for. Its my goal to win the TU, so I'll keep doing that. I don't really know too much about the WNBF, but as of now, I have no desire, no goal, no stake in competing there (or any other natural organization for that matter). Who knows, maybe one day, but for now I'm focused on doing the TU in 8 weeks.

Thanks, I just hope everything comes together. Either way, so long as I look better than I ever have, I did my job. I just wish the TU was sooner...7 more weeks!
