Jeff, you're going to come in way thicker this year. I can tell a difference each week for sure. It really does make it easier to get into top condition when a person starts out as lean as you did. Damn, your arms look thick!

        Thanks, Flex.

By the way, are you (or anyone else) going to the NPC San Jose this next weekend?

I've got a buddy competing, so I'll be there.

That way I can eat many more carbs in the meals immediately folllowing without risking additional BF. Thanks for the help.
Hahaha, nice. How is that working out for you? You used to it yet? Like it?

                    • Well, although its not ideal since waking at 5:30 for meal 1 sucks, there are many other benefits...can eat way more complex carbs at the next whole food meal and I can finish eating carbs by 2pm. Anyway, besides the early alarm no problems. Today's high volume leg workout was tough though.

                        • Is your first working set after warm ups always the heaviest for each exercise Lets say i usually fail with 315 x4 on inclines presses so my second set should be around 275-280 in order to fail around 6 reps, correct??

Thanks, Kiyoshi. Looking good yourself. I took a look at your blog update pics; very thick.

                              No.

I try to choose a weight such that I will stay within the 4-6 rep range while I am doing that exercise. What this usually means is something like: 6 reps, then 5. Or 5 reps then 4. Or 4 reps then 4. etc.

If I accidentally choose a weight that I get more than 6 reps with, I'll go heavier on the next set. I usually don't guess too heavy, but if I do and get 3 reps, I usually just stick with the weight and and get 3 again (sometimes, if I get less than 4 and my form is really compromised, I go lighter to a weight I can get 4-6 reps).

So, for yourself (using the example above), I would say stay with 315. OR start with 300 (or whatever) and stay there until you can get a solid 6.
