Here's why I have not done any direct rear delt training. My rear delts get worked (and sometimes are sore) from training back and I usually train shoulders the day before back. I've always thought that my rear delts will get enough work from training back; especially when I do a lot of rowing exercises on back day. Furthermore, my rear delts get really sore from stiff legged deadlifts for some reason.

Its the same reason I don't do any direct front delt training; they get plenty of work from training chest (particularly from incline presses).
From the looks of your delts, I'd say you are doing it right!

Seriously, I do rear delt work but I've noticed the same thing that you just stated, my rear delts are toast after back day so I'm going to drop it. No sense wasting recovery.

Yeah, I went back to the gym after about a week off after the TU, so I've been back about a month now.

Things are going well, both diet (offseason!) and training are going very well.

As for my blog, I will update it this weekend.

Also, my (and some others) posing routine video is up on MDTV.

          • How strict are you in terms of taking a week off? I know you said that you do it every 8 weeks or so. In other words how long have you gone without a true break?
The reason I ask is because I've just recently been put on TRT and finally have some energy and am wondering if I should ride this out while I'm able or proceed with caution and take the break even if I'm unsure if it is necessarily "needed" as my test levels haven't been normal before and I would tire very easily, now...Still giving 100% effort and lifting to positive failure all of the time would definitely require a respite and I don't want to overtrain myself either. What are your thoughts as you have done this longer than I with "normal" levels? Go by feel or force yourself to take the break as it is needed due to the type of training (CNS burnout, etc.) and is more beneficial in the long run? Kind of an odd question due to the circumstances as TRT isn't part of your expertise.

Actually you can disregard this question if you want. I slept most of the day today so I must need the break.

Jeff keeps a blog and all you need is there, just select from the index on the right hand side for the information you require.

Yeah, I don't know ANYTHING about TRT. So, instead I'll just tell you what I do. If I am feeling GREAT after 8 weeks of training I might train for a few more weeks; maybe 10 or 11 weeks total. But at that point, I'll just stop even if I'm feeling REALLY good.

I don't know exactly what you mean by, "how long have you gone without a true break." if a true break is a normal week off training (not a month off vacation in hawaii), then the longest I've probably trained for is about 14 or 15 weeks.

It was white basmati rice. Its probably not going to make a difference either way, though, so (assuming this is your carb up) just eat whichever you prefer.
