  • Awesome info on your blog Jeff! I also like to keep food prepared ahead of time. I'm going to try your chicken idea! Keeping things simple is the way to go.

      thanks man

No, since its offseason, I don't worry about it. Of course I wouldn't get too crazy and choose a sauce that had 50g fat, 30g per tablespoon, but the bbq sauce I use isn't too crazy (has about 9g carbs per 2tbsp.).

If it was pre-contest, on the other hand, then yes I would take this into account (actually, I wouldn't really even use it, I would go with a zero calorie, dry seasoning like mrs. dash or mccormicks).

        Thanks.

Yeah, I agree, keeping things simple makes it much easier to stick to the diet, whether pre-contest or offseason.

I'm guessing you'll try this when you get back into offseason, right? That, or you can do it using this:

Yes! No doubt, I will! I also like Tony Cheshire's creole seasoning. I've eaten a lot of chicken and tilapia for this contest prep.

Right now I'm just trying to hold things together, I have 3 weeks until my next show. I've cut way back on cardio and I've added a few carbs back to my diet. Last year I lost too much muscle in between shows. I was pushing the cardio too hard and I wasn't carbing up enough.

Do you carb heavy before a show?

Not really. I would say I do a moderate carb up. I would say about 350g carbs, or in that range.

Yeah, i've heard thats a good show.

Good job! As for feedback, I think for your next show you could improve on your conditioning, and on the bright side, I'd say you've got good arms and chest development.

Thanks, I didn't sodium deplete as much for this show I've had trouble with coming in flat in the past when I take it too low. I am keeping sodium high right now and I'm up about 2-3 pounds over my contest weight. I don't drink as much water as you but I am trying to drink 2 gal. a day. I'll try to up it to 3 gal. a day the last week. Wow I'm going to the bathroom about every half hr. all day now! I can't even imagine drinking 5 gallons!

I need to go back in this thread and review what you're doing. I know it doesn't help to cut sodium or water too soon.

Just trial and error; I don't use a specific formula. I started with about 20-25g before and after and have just added a bit more and more over the years.
