honestly i don't mind it that much, I don't think anyone's word should be taken at face value anymore. Most everyone has an agenda of some sort... I'll be the first to admit that I have biases, I try to limit them but I am only human.

        • well it was heavy front squat day again and I decided that today was the day that I was going to break my PRs. As some of you may know I previously got 385 for 2 sets of 5, but the next time I tried for a PR I only got 395 for 3 and then next time only got 390 for 4. I knew it was all in my mind and I just had to get mentally tougher... Working sets were

          -315 X 5
          -330 X 5
          -345 X 5
          -360 X 5
          -375 X 5
          -390 X 5* PR
          -395 X 5* PR

My form and speed were good and I only slightly came forward on the last rep of the last set. I knew that all of this was in my head and that I just had to convince myself that I could do it. I made up my mind before I went in that today would not be the day that I got beat mentally. Before each said I told myself "This is how I will beat you" (referring to other pro natural bodybuilders). I know that I'm not that genetically gifted compared to others, so I cannot afford to be anything less than perfect in my work ethic. Unfortunately no video, but next time I'll make sure to film it.

Maybe you don't have Flex Wheeler proportions (you're certainly not lagging in this regard, however), but I definitely think your physical strength is well above average.

Layne, Does the heating or cooking with whey or whey/casein affect the quality and benefits of the protein? I like to mix whey powder with my oatmeal and wondered if the heat has a negative effect.

Brother that's phenominal!!! Congrats and awesome job on pushing past your limits!

Does that tear up you up pretty good when you handle that kind of weight for that many reps? I know when I do them (not even close to that volume/weight) I look like someone took a whip to the front of my shoulders!!

                  Again, mega props man!!

How do you gauge your working sets? When looking at the above weights/reps it would appear that you werent close to 'failure' with the 315...so when do you start counting work sets vs. warm up?

                        • failure or not... 315 feels heavy on front squats. LOL

a working set for me is when i'm using 80% or above of my personal record for that rep range.

trust me... you do that kind of workout starting like that and moving all the way up... you are exhausted by the end of it.

I dont doubt it.....just used to counting work sets as those that are near failure. For example...my Flat Dumbell worksets of 3 x 6 :

                            130 x 6
                            115 x 6
                            100 x 6

Maybe I have been doing way too many sets close to failure.
