isn't it saying that carbohydrate intake has no added benefit in adding muscle when combined with protein post workout?

that article also says that insulin levels rise with co ingestion of cho and protein, and it doesnt address the suppression of glucose uptake into fat cells....those are still reasons to take cho post workout, along with replenishing liver glycogen which tells your body its "fed" and will tell your body its good to go for adding muscle and also to replenish muscle glycogen which keeps your muscle cells hydrated and "full", which is thought to be a contributing factor to hypertrophy...I think if the study went on for a longer period of time the cumulative effects of higher insulin, better nutrient partitioning and fuller glycogen stores would probably lead to a greater amount of lbm either through less fat accumulation or a small amount of hypertrophy for the cho + pro group

Cool, thanks. I really liked the most recent episode... gave me a good periodization idea.

I did doggcrapp for several weeks and now im switching back to a 5-day periodized split; I had a talk with the main trainer in my gym (hes a knowledgeable guy) about stretching. I also didn't really like the 2 hour DC workouts and would much rather go to the gym 2 more times per week but workout for an hour. The trainer was saying how the increase in ROM I would get from them isn't worth the hyperplasia/hypertrophy growth because it can set me up for easier injuries on some exercises. His reasoning if i remember right was that an increased ROM on a certain movements increases the chance of muscle tears (since a muscle can only be stretched so far) and he used SLDL and hamstrings as an example along with the fact that these kind of injuries are very common among gymnasts. Where as Dante and the DC crew argue the opposite and how it will prevent injuries.. lol.

You're not supposed to be in the gym for 2 hours on DC. More like 40 minutes, as far as I understand.

                      • The warmups for every muscle (i do 3-4 sets) and all the stretches made my DC workouts fall somewhere in between 1.5 - 2 hrs. Setting up the smith is a bitch so that took like 10 min by itself.

A shaker will get the job done. No need to use a blender.
