      • Layne, my pectoral development is not exactly what I would like it to be, but coming along. I hit it hard once a week. On the days after the workout, can I go with a few hundred pushups for active rest to help with the development, or is this too much?

hell no it's not too much, I'm telling you, once i started working everything out 2x/week hard; that's when my physique went from middle of the pack to being competitive for my pro card. I am quite convinced that being brave enough to try high volume/frequency was one of the main reasons I am not still an amatuer.

is it wise for a first time competitor to stay away from sodium loading?
i heard if you dont get it just right it will ruin your show entirely

is there any adjustments i can make to your pre-contest diet on the bodybuilding.com page in regards to sodium loading that i could make depending on my body type, ability to hold water etc.?

            thanks layne
I think a smaller more controlled sodium load is ok... but not doing crazy stuff like 10,000mg per day or anything like that.

I think my article at bodybuilding.com has different calculations for different bodytypes.

That is good enough for me. I had backed off of the volume, and made some progress, but that has started to slow down, so I knew it was time for a change... it was just a matter of what though.

High volume kept it interesting for me!!

I like it alot too, though i still change up my workouts all the time. I've seen gains with pretty much every style of workout, but I find the high volume/high frequency workouts to be the most enjoyable and rewarding. Maybe it's the pump and the adrenaline high you get, but doing those types of workouts let you push yourself far past your pain barrier and create incredible intensity.

Layne, when will Europa have Dialene?

                            • another question Layne,

I have had my bodyfat measured with caliper 4 months ago and the reading placed me at 4% BF. But I was sure that it wasn't 4% because I didn't have the definition and hardness you would have if you were a true 4%. I thought that I was 10% or so. But seeing your contest foto log, and comparing myself with your body, I realized that I was at 14% or so. How can this be? A 10% difference? The person that did the reading sad I had almost a competitive bodyfat level for a natural. That blew my mind afterwards seeing your pics. That's why I don't trust readings anymore.
But when I am at a true 7% or so, I am gonna bulk but I want to keep my bodyfat in check. What do you recommend? Taking picture every other week? And taking my BF with caliper every week just to measure differences? Or maybe you can measure your waist and neck?

And when I was at my highest bodyfat, I thought that I was at 14% BF or so. But when I started cutting, I realized that it must have been a lot more. I think 20+. But the fat was hard. I didn't have fat rolls. So how can you measure your bf correctly with caliper if the fat is hard and under your abs?

                              • What up Layne? I'm 19 years old, 6'2 239lbs 15% bf right now .. ive been seriously lifting for about 7 months now and decided i want to get do competitions. I'm 100% natural. Could you help me out with dieting, i want to get lean for the summer and for the rest of my life. Growing up I was always chunky and for the past 2 months i've decided to change my lifestyle and how I eat. Could you guide me in how much protein to take in through the day and what to eat please? It's a lot better getting info from an all natural guy, especially one who's very knowledgable and successful in the sport. Also, I read how you didn't think Dave's diet would be good for a natty, what do you suggest for carbs as well while i'm trying to cut. Thanks alot Layne, I appreciate it.
