    • Good luck with that pec, brother. I'm glad to hear it wasn't a tear.

      • Layne- seriously scary stuff. Has to be a huge breath of fresh air that no bruising has occurred.
Being a little parental here: I know you feel like a moron...and you should.
Game plan- learn it, live it, love it!!!

Speedy recovery man. Like lightning fast would be just great.
I'm sending you good mojo via internet right...now

I think what you'll find is that in the long run this may actually help you (not the getting hurt part). I believe you'll focus more on locking that form down. Which in turn will not only prolong your powerlifting but allow you to progress at a rate that you will be pleased with.
You are truly an inspiration to us all.

Hey just a thought here, but at that fancy college of yours, do they have a hyperbaric chamber you could hang out in for a bit?

Think of it like a decompression chamber used in deep sea diving. Except the ones used for oxygen therapy aren't under anywhere near the pressure that a decompression one is. So they're way smaller. What they do is to literally push the enriched environment into your system (in this case oxygen). What this does is not only makes your body uptake the gas by respiration, but also through the skin, so your whole body is flooded with O2. Promotes healing. Some would say slows aging...yada yada

Presumably that would increase free radical production too, right?

                      • layne, just be careful what those doctors in emergency rooms say.. i tore my pec when i was 20 years old.. not knowing any better and maxing out on bench press. I was benching 405, after doing 365 and 385 easily and it just gave out. I went to the emergency room and there was severe brusing on bicep it was black blue. they though i tore my rotator cuff. told me to ice it and lay off of working out. I knew it was my pec so i went to my family doctor, he told me i just strained it and i would be ok in a 6-8 weeks.. well i waited and waited and my pec never felt right. 6 months after the incident i went to an orthepidic surgeon because my pec just wasnt "ok" he told me i tore my pec minor and it was almost immpossible to do the surgery because it was already healed and even if he did the surgery there is a 40% chance it would be work, so he said if i got the surgery right after the incident i would have been fine, but now its too late. this sucked because i used to love to bench press and now that i compete i know i can never get past the local level because of my pec.. i guess the moral of the stories.. emergency room doctors and family doctors are not very well versed in athletic injuries and are there to make sure you alive not try and save your bb future. Hope everything is ok, and as long as you have health insurance i dont think getting a second opinion is a bad idea.

thanks shereaf, I am definitely mindful of that, but there is no bruising or disfigurement and I still have decent range of motion and there isn't bad pain at all... just tightness but trust me, I will keep a CLOSE eye on it

I'm not sure in a pure 02 environment. Seems like there would be less or greatly decreased because other inert gases are removed. Although you would still exhale C02 into the chamber.
