    • I am glad to hear you say that. I am sick of all these new Gym members telling me that my twice a week leg workouts are too much. Thats the only way I could get them to grow.

I never really experienced substantial growth until hitting legs twice per week either. Moreover, I agree that "overtraining" is grossly exaggerated. In fact, I've experienced tremendous body composition changes ever since I increased my volume and frequency of training as to all muscle groups.

I've said this before. The only people that I knew were for real overtrained were distance runners with eating disorders. Most the other were just an excuse for either poor diet or training methods. For anyone who has ever seen a person who is truely over trained, they look like hammered shit.

                  • 40+ BB'ers!

                    Layne,

I am 45 and a beginning BB'er. I've seen, and read a few different approaches on lifting, nutrition, and supplementation.
                    My question is regarding training.

I've been told by quite a few 40+ Bb'ers that each body part should only be worked once a week, giving it time to recovery between workouts due to the fact, that with age the recovery process slows. That makes sense.

There are also others that work each group 2 times a week.

I've tried both, and cannot really tell a difference.

In your opinion, as long as I am making progress, does it matter?

I think that there are many routines, and many of those have merit.

                    What are your thoughts?

                    Thx..

Not new to lifting, just to BB'ing.

I just really got into BB'ing about 8 months ago.

I've recently competed, and will be competing again in 3 weeks...

My progress has actually been going well. I am getting bigger, stronger, leaner, etc.

My primary question revolves around age, recovery, and frequency of workouts...

Okay.. because I was going to suggest picking up a copy of Practical Programming for Strength Training by Rippetoe and Kilgore. Fantastic book.

Do you know when the new Scivation Whey is coming out? Also, do you know how much it will cost for the 5lb. tub? Thanks!
