              • Quick question about pre-workout supps. I have been taking ignite and have been thinking of adding asprin kind of like the ECA stack without the Ephedrine for obvious reasons. How many miligrams should I go with?? Thanks for any info and GSP rocked that fight!!

Squatting today was semi-heavy but well below max, but I was doing it without a mirror. So it was a bit different. I was also trying out different knee wraps to see which ones I liked best. I felt real good and did all of the sets easy even without the mirror

                  1- 135 X 12
                  2- 185 X 9
                  3- 245 X 6
                  4- 295 X 4
                  5- 335 X 2
                  6- 375 X 1
                  7- 405 X 1
                  8- 455 X 1
                  9- 455 X 1
                  10- 455 X 1

Then it was time for deadlifts. I decided I would push myself to see what I can do. All sets were done with a double OVERHAND hook grip

                  1- 225 X 5
                  2- 315 X 5
                  3- 405 X 3
                  4- 455 X 2
                  5- 495 X 1
                  6- 545 X 1
                  7- 585 X 1
                  8- 605 X 1
9- 630 X 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Easy! The APA record for my weight class raw is 625. I plan to break it baby!

of course I got a vid

                  HELL YEA!

bro. I've trained MMA. I rolled with a blue belt who is a LW (Diaz is a black belt mind you). He fucking dominated me. It doesn't matter how strong you are. This is what the dude does for a living, he does it everyday, for hours everyday. I wouldn't make it 30 seconds inside the ring with Diaz or any UFC lightweight for that matter. And if you think otherwise you are outside your mind delusional LOL

thanks Man. I think Alves is a tough test. He has fantastic takedown defense, really crisp striking and BIG power. He rocked Koschek multiple times and I'd never seen Koschek really rocked on his feet. I think GSP needs to use his kicks alot to wear out the leg of Alves so he can't defend the takedowns effectively. Vice versa GSP needs to get good at checking kicks because Alves has NASTY leg kicks and if GSP eats more than 4 or 5 of them he'll have no gas to take him down. Eventually I think GSP needs to put this fight on the canvas and be in top position and GNP him out to win

thats right. but u have to keep in mind that alves is a black belt in bjj. alot of people forget alves's ground game because his so good standing. if gsp gets careless he can get caught.

yea i know, but GSP is too smart for that. He is a black belt as well and his submission defense is fantastic. He's GNP Serra and BJ who are two of the best BJJ in the UFC. I don't see him having a problem if he's on top of Thiago

I've been having a hip dysfunction for the last year so I’ve had to be careful when deadlifting that I don't try and do too much and put either my hip or my back out.

But yesterday my hip was feeling good and after warmups I slapped 315 on the bar and repped that for 3. Its the first time I’ve done that for about a year and my max previously was 360, I’m now aspiring to get up to 405 within 3 months. The numbers are of course not as impressive as yours but I am a bit lighter and smaller (5'5, 160).

                            Thanks for the inspiration!

                              • Hey Layne,

Unfortunately, I injured my shoulder playing basketball Sunday. I play on an intermural team for my fraternity. So now, I won't be able to lift for around 2 weeks. If I wanted to, I could probably lift in a week, and make my injury chronic. But I'm trying to be smart about it, and think about my future as a bodybuilder.

Anyway, onto my question. Do you think it would be a good idea to take these two weeks of non lifting as a cut cycle? Keep my protein high, cut my carbs in half, and lower my fat a bit as well. I'm trying to make the best of a bad situation. I've been bulking for 5 months straight, and managed to put on about 12 pounds, but I feel like I should trim some of the fat i gained.
