          • I haven't gone thru all the 50-odd pages [and 1000+ replies] here so excuse me if this has been asked before, Layne.

Creatine loading.... do you believe in it?

            • it saturates the muscle cell faster; but 5g/day will also saturate it; it just takes longer. loading may cause GI distress for some

                  • Layne,
I know that people will be tired when on a pre contest diet but I have been extremely tired and just feel sluggish all the time. I dont even want to get up and walk around but just lay. I'm taking in 300-350 protein a day and around 60-70 grams of carbs, minimal fat. Any idea why im so beat?

                    • Too little or too many carbs. You either want to give yourself more carbs so you have more energy or drop some so you're keto all the time. It looks like the easiest way to adjust your diet would be to up the carbs and drop some protein.

I thought if you do low carbs you need to up the fat intake, and the fat will be your energy source.

                        • I was doing Dave's diet and then I went to see Earl Snyder who is a champion natural bodybuilder and lives in my area. He gave me the diet and changed my cardio to HIT 3x a week. I trust him because I have seen the results he has produced.

Interesting. But were they Natties? High int cardio and only minimal carbs... hhmmmm? Layne likes lots of carbs and water and HIIT. Dave likes very low carbs and LOW int cardio. Seems like you are trying to mix oil and water. By the way, why switch from Daves?

                            • Yes he is a natural bodybuilder. I switched because when I showed him the diet (Dave's) I was on he said that it wouldnt work and that I should use the one he was going to give me. I know it does seem like I'm mixing oil and water but somehow it works for this guy and others he has trained. He also changed my lifting regiment which was very high volume before to 5 x a week taking the weekend off. Split is Back-Abs/Quads-Calves/Chest-Triceps-Abs/Hams-Bi's-Calves/Delts-Abs/Rest/Rest. He has me doing only 9 total sets for each bodypart and 4-6 reps per set. So basically low volume high intensity stuff with heavier weights than what I used before.

                              • That is how you should train with Daves diet also. I'm curious... did he say why Daves diet wouldn't work??

Yep you will be crazy tired as well with that diet. Like Spiko said earlier to get rid of that tired feeling you would either have to add carbs or drop carbs and add fats. You're kinda screwed in that regard because that would go against this guys diet. Therefor it looks like you will have to suffer through this one.

The minimal carbs keeps your body just out of ketosis. So you give the barin some carbs and then it wants some more (the tired feeling). If you got rid of them per Dave, the brain would be in full blown ketosis and very happy burning off fats for fuel. With only 70 grams per day, your brain is not very happy with you right now.

Good luck and I hope you do well!!
